The Besser Collection

Due to the relocation of the Hospital Museum & Archive to York House, we have accepted this collection of material so that it remains accessible to staff of the Hospital, the Institute, and to interested visitors. The collection was donated to the Hospital some years ago by the late Dr Felix Besser, former dermatologist and Hon. Archivist to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The collection covers material on paediatrics, medicine, midwifery, nursing, and the history of medicine. Therefore a new designation is being added to our catalogue which will refer to the Besser collection. These items are for reference use only and the majority of the books from this collection have distinctive yellow bookplates.

Any queries about this collection should be referred to John Clarke in the first instance.

For enquiries about the relocated Archives, please contact the Archivist, Nick Baldwin direct on 020 7405 9200 ext. 5920.
