Mental Health Awareness Week 2023

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (15-21 May) and the theme this year is anxiety.

This year’s ‘Just’ Anxiety?’ campaign, from the Mental Health Foundation, aims to help people to understand the difference between feelings of anxiety and anxiety disorders, and to enable people to reach out to friends, family, colleagues and communities to share their experiences, as well as to take time out to think about their own mental health.

The library is a great place to start and we would like to highlight some books from our wellbeing collection on the theme of anxiety.

An introduction to coping with anxiety / Brenda Hogan and Lee Brosan.

How to build a healthy brain : reduce stress, anxiety and depression and future-proof your brain / Kimberley Wilson.

Quiet the mind : an illustrated guide on how to meditate / written and illustrated by Matthew Johnstone.

The CBT handbook / Pamela Myles and Roz Shafran.

A manual for being human : what makes us who we are, why it matters and practical advice for a happier life / Dr Sophie Mort.

Stress control / Jim White.

All birds have anxiety / Kathy Hoopmann.

Reasons to stay alive / Matt Haig.

A manual for being human : what makes us who we are, why it matters and practical advice for a happier life / Dr Sophie Mort.
