Introduction to the Library, Literature searching and Endnote for GOSH staff

The GOSICH Library has just created a brand new training program geared at GOSH staff.

There are 2 different sessions one on the Library resources and one on Endnote.

Session 1

Did you know that GOSH staff can join the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health Library to get access to a range of information resources and search tools?

This session will provide an overview of the library’s services, facilities and resources. You will find out how to access resources remotely online, as well as finding out what is available to you by visiting us, or any of UCL’s other libraries, in person.

The session will also include a brief introduction to literature searching. You will find out which literature databases and other search tools are available to you; you’ll be given some tips for effective searching; and you’ll find out how to access the full-text of the publications that you find.

Session 2

Also did you know that you can save a lot of time with Endnote and that GOSH staff can install EndNote software on a personal computer, and/or get it installed on a GOSH computer free-of-charge?

EndNote allows you to collect and organise reference information and to cite references in a Word document using a range of citation styles (e.g. Vancouver or Harvard). It is useful for those writing papers, book chapters, or guidelines. It is also useful for other academic work, such as writing essays or dissertations. This live online session offers a short demonstration, covering how to set up a basic library, how to collect and manage references and full-text documents, and how to organise citations and reference lists in a Word document.

All the sessions will be delivered using Zoom.

These sessions are for Great Ormond Street Hospital staff only.
