Health Information Week: BMJ Best Practice


Did you know that 
GOSH staff can access BMJ Best Practice? 

BMJ Best Practice is a trusted, evidence based clinical decision tool structured around the patient consultation that provides information to support symptom evaluation, test ordering and treatment approach. 

BMJ Best Practice is an award-winning clinical decision tool with wide coverage of conditions and diseases. It is ranked first for evidence-based methodology, and editorial quality and is a resource designed for healthcare professionals to be used at the point of care. It can be used to:
  • Get a second opinion about prevention, diagnosis, treatment or prognosis
  • Identify UK or international guidelines 
  • Identify evidence-based synopses 
  • Identify drug information on dosing, availability, formulations
  • Identify images to be used for educational purposes
  • For patient information leaflets
  • Develop professionally – notes and links can be saved to a personal portfolio

To access BMJ Best Practice go to the Knowledge and Library Hub then sign in with your OpenAthens username and password, and under the 'Clinical Decision Making' heading select 'BMJ Best Practice'. You will be asked to create a personal account if you would like to download the app to a phone or other mobile device.


If you do not yet have an OpenAthens account you can register for one at openathens.nice.org.uk/Auth/LoginPlease register from a trust computer and provide your GOSH email address.
